Book Review | The Dead Sea Squirrels Field Day Frenzy

Today I am reviewing a Christian children’s book by Mike Nawrocki

Book Description:

The Dead Sea Squirrels action-packed adventure series continues with the ultimate teamwork test—Field Day!

Go, Team, Go!

It’s Field Day at Walnut Creek Elementary School and Michael is named Team Captain. But his greed for victory makes him overlook his classmates whose unique strengths could be the key to beating the fourth-grade team, specifically Edgar. Merle and Pearl Squirrel need to speak some sense into Michael, but they’re too busy escaping from the family cat and avoiding the school reporter, Sanjay. Will Michael listen to what they have to say about leadership in time to win?

  • Book #14 in the popular Christian kids’ series packed with adventure and family-friendly humor from the co-creator of VeggieTales
  • Cute and funny illustrations that will appeal to even the most reluctant readers
  • Positive messages that promote biblical values
  • Young readers will learn about working together in the same way as the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12)

My Review:

Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.

This is a book that needs to be bought in print not on the kindle. It would read much better but in saying that I had no issue reading the story. I haven’t read others in the series and think having read them would make it easier to follow. I could see this being a popular children’s series. We have to squirrels Merle and Pearl who can talk and live with the Gomez family with Pearl been wise and giving good bible insights to the children. Michael, Justin and Sadie are best friends, and Jane is Michael’s little sister.

Today is the Field Day Frenzy and the winning grade will win a pizza party for the grade. Captains are drawn at random with Michael captain of the 5th grade. They must work together as a team, but Michael thinks he knows best. Sadie has the ideas that would be helpful if only he would listen. The bible insight is about how we are all part of one body, but all have different gifts and tasks. The body needs all parts to work properly. This is how they can work together to win if only Michael will listen.

It was a fun story and for Elementary school age children. Would be a fun book to read with children.
