Tuesday Book Chat | What’s the one genre you can never read enough of?

Welcome to the Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat, where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

What’s the one genre you can never read enough of?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

When I first read this question, I thought hmm… finally an easy question to answer! Contemporary romance is my favourite genre to read and write. My tbr lists and bookshelves are dominated by books in this genre – primarily Christian/inspirational and clean/sweet contemporary romance.

What do you think? What’s the one genre you can never read enough of?

And don’t forget: if you’d like to participate in our weekly Book Chat by posting the question and your answer on your blog, drop us an email via our Contact page and we’ll send you the list of questions for 2019.

  1. I Love to read all kinds of books, so I actually don’t think I have a genre that I prefer.

    1. Hi Alicia, My apologies for the late reply. Before I started writing, I never used to think about genre. I’d select a fiction book according to the type of story I felt like reading. Now my reading time is more limited (I’m struggling with migraines atm) I’m much more picky about what I choose to read. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  2. This is a hard question as there are sub genres in larger genres. I would have to say Historical Fiction but there are some I don’t like as much as others. The sub genre I would say I like most is books set around the American Civil War (but not the girly ones that gloss over the war and yes read one of these where the war was mentioned but the book could have been set anywhere). I like learning history and seeing how the characters have to deal with whats happening. An example of really good books is the Appomattox Saga by Gilbert Morris.

    1. Hi Jenny, Yes, I like to learn about history by reading fiction and I prefer to read historical romance over historical fiction. Regency romance is one of my favourite historical romance sub genres eg. Carolyn Miller’s lovely books. 🙂

  3. Hard to answer, as I read across a lot of genres. But I keep coming back to romantic suspense (e.g. Terri Blackstock, Dee Henderson, Brandilyn Collins, Colleen Coble). I also love a good mystery, with lots of twists and turns. And if there’s a little bit of quirk there, all the better (e.g. Alexander McCall-Smith’s No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Series and Alan Bradley’s Flavia de Luce series).

    1. Hi Nola, I haven’t read much romantic suspense lately and I have a list of titles in my tbr pile. A good mystery is always a fun and absorbing read, especially when it’s a page turner and difficult to pick the villain. 🙂

  4. I read and love a few genres. I love Historical Fiction and Contemporary (clean) Romance, but my all time favourite is Romantic Suspense. I’m currently reading some of Dee Henderson’s books (The O’Malley series).
